The First Joke I Ever Wrote:

"I once worked for a radical social cause...

I spent an entire summer outside a hardware store,

throwing fur coats on people buying paint."

I was only sixteen at the time, and I'd always entertained the notion of someday becoming a standup comic.  I jotted this down in a little notebook, and years later when I did my first comedy open-mic, this was the first joke I told onstage.  It got a few laughs so I did the joke for about 5 months.  I still kind of like it.
